RED TAILS

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”

This Red Tailed is as beautiful in flight up in the sky. Just as they are amazing to see way up in the Evergreen trees.

STATE BIRD

“A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.”

Oh, and can these birds sing. You defiantly hear cardinals long before you see the them. And once you hear them they are so easy to spot.

SWANS

“Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.” I watched these swans dance in the water for days. There beauty can take your breath away.

MALLARD DUCKS

“The only thing that will stop you from fulfilling your dreams is you.” You hardly ever see these ducks without their mates. As usually the male is more colorful than the female. No doubt he will follow her anywhere, for the rest of their lives.

EAGLE MATES

“A friend is like an eagle; you don't find them flying in flocks”

Such an amazing sight when you see and eagle. But, when you see two sitting next to each other it is truly uplifting. I hope these raptors come back for many years to come.

JUVANILE BALD EAGLE

“Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can fly.”

I am guessing by the end of this year, this juvenile bald eagle will have his white head and tail. Then there will be no second guessing, on what kind of raptor it is.

GREAT BLUE HERON

"Our patience will achieve more than our force."

Spring must be right around the corner. The still water pond is only half covered with ice. This is where the fishing is good, and the views are very nice! Come summer this pond will be full of these beautiful creatures.

TURKEY BIRDS

“Looking and comprehending is nature's most beautiful gift.”

Wild Turkeys all around. Kicking and scratch, looking for food on the snow covered ground. These huge creature are almost to beautiful to eat. What an awesome creature, I am so amazed to meet!

FAVORITE FUNGI

“Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.”

I'm fascinated with the growth of fungi. And these mushrooms are so cool!

Never before have I ever seen pink mushroom. Must be poison!

MORE FUNGI

“You must grow like a tree, not like a mushroom”

This is interesting to see. Two different types of fungi growing on the same dead tree.

LOVE IS AMAZING

"Love is, above all, the gift of oneself." These two are always in the same tree. When I saw that they were next to eachother truely amazing to me. Love the way he is looking at her.

A PRETTY PAIR

“Attraction is not a choice.”

These are Black and White Warblers, playing in the trees. Just another little bird you rarely see. Unless, of course you are me!

LIFE MATES

“Love is the river of life in the world.” The Mute Swan is so beautiful all fluffed up, trying to stay warm on such a cold winter's day.

TAKE FLIGHT

"If you can't teach me to fly, teach me to sing."

The Great Egret is an amazing creature. The way they wait for their food to swim by. And those long legs crack me up when they decide to fly!

BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON

“Shoot for the moon and if you miss you will still be among the stars.”

When the moon is full it's a sight to see. Coming up from the horizon for you and me..Moon beams shine all around into the night without a sound.
Once it is high in the air, it is hard to not to stare. Weather you are off in a dream or sitting along a stream. Take in a full moon. You will definitely know what I mean.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

"Two lives, two hearts joined together in friendship united forever in love."

Here are the Red Tail Hawks I love to stalk. I just can't get enough of them. I'm sure you can see why!

First kiss!

WOOD DUCKS

“Happy as a duck in water”

What a beautiful pair of Wood Ducks. This was the first time I have ever seen these brilliant ducks. Can't wait to see if they return this spring.

BUSY AS A BEE

“Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.”Busy as a bee, is what I aim to be.

REFLECT

"The real woman smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress,
and grows brave by reflection."

"A spider spins his web strand by strand."In the dew of day break it's easy to see, truly how beautiful these creatures can be.

SILLY GOOSE

"However well organized the foundations of life may be,
life must always be full of risks"

Getting the ducks in a row is one thing, getting geese to do this is another....There's always one goof ball in every bunch.

FALL SUNSET

“A beautiful sunset that was mistaken for a dawn.” You know your day is done, when you have nothing to do but take in the sunset..it sets you free.

THE GATHERING

“Home is where you hang your head”

I am almost positive the main reason the leaves turn colors and fall, is to give these little creatures something to do.. This little guy was working hard, getting his nest ready for the winter weather.

OH DEER

“You can't run away from trouble. There ain't no place that far.”

Caught these deers while I was on my way out of the sub-division. I must have spooked them. Next thing I knew they were in leaps and bounds, white tailing it out of there.

NESTING

"The more effort you put into something, the more you get in return."

It takes one branch at a time to make a well built nest. I watched this hawk break the branch from the tree with is talons and fly off to his place.. Unbelievable! I have some awesome shots of this hawk, as he flew right over my head.

SWAN ATTACK

“Love is the river of life in the world.”
Wow, where is the love? These creature are beautiful but, they're so mean...Look as she scares away the ugly duckling.

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

"Whatever begins, also ends"
Well, well, well...what do we have here? Oh, it's a Eagle flock eating dinner. I was hoping to see them eating fish. But, they are scavenger too.. That's so cool.

AMERICAN EAGLES

"When you soar like an eagle, you attract the hunters.”

Yesterday, on my way into the woods. I heard something wrestling around on the ground and before I knew it I had five of these creatures flying over my head... Their wingspan is at least 3 feet taller than me..I'm so lucky to see this amazing creatures so close up!! Can't wait to see some more, now that I know where their hiding out.....

MESSENGER MARSH PRESERVE

"The beauty of nature includes all that is called beautiful, as it's flower; and all that is not called beautiful, as it's stalks, and roots."Hiking the Messenger Marsh Preserve, on a cold fall day with my Mom. Days like this will be hard to forget.

THEODORE MARSH PRESERVE

"The Best and the most Beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with your heart."

On the trail in Theodore Marsh, there was just about every kind of wild flower you could imagine.

This is just one of many lakes in this preserve..lots of birds out there too.

BRAIDWOOD DUNES AND SAVANNA NATURE PRESERVE

"The earth laughs in flowers."
Where the mushrooms are pink, the frogs are green, the flowers are yellow...while the skies stay blue.

RED TAIL HAWK IN FLIGHT

“The hawk with talent hides its talons"
"Mate or nest mate?" Only my Dad would ask me a question like that...Not quite sure what he is. But,I do know when I see that White Hawk, this one is always close by...I'm going with mate. Not brother and sister!

WINTERS BLANKET

“The key to success is often the ability to adapt”
I like this shot because, it looks like he's checking himself out. As the White Tailed Deer looks for food, the winds shift and the snow becomes horizontal. The weather made him such a beautiful white snow covered blanket.

SWAN RIVER

“Get my Swan costume ready.”
The Swans are floating down the river, what a beautiful sight to see. This one was showing off all his cool tricks, while he was honking at me..

WHITE TAILS

“There's no rest for the wicked”

These White Tailed Deers let me walk right up to them, chilling in the woods. Truly wonderful to see a Deer in the first place. But, to be able to snap this shot without disturbing them was amazing. There were about ten of them that day, just hanging out in the snow bed.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER!

“Don't refuse to go on an occasional wild goose chase -- that's what wild geese are for.”

There's always something alive and free right outside my door. This picture is awesome even without the Hawk hunting in the background! The half frozen pond was over flowing with these beautiful geese that day!

BIRD FEEDING

"Birds of a feather will gather together."
Feeding the birds is a messy job. But, someone wants to do it...I wait to see what flies in for a bite to eat. Then the bird who stays for a minute in the tree, gets captured!

LOVERS LEAP

“Look before you leap”
Off to the Rock, to see more Eagles!!!At least one more..oh well, the Furry Friends Show at the Lodge was what the trip was all about. The Eagle bird was a bonus. The Starved Rock area is one of my favorite places in the world to get lost in nature! Here is a nice view of Lovers leap and the Visitor Center.

HELLO, EAGLE BIRD!

“It's a great event to get outside and enjoy nature. I find it very exciting no matter how many times I see bald eagles.”

"There's an Eagle", I said to my Daughter. as I hit the brakes...Shot this massive bird from the car. My Daughter didn't believe me until she saw it through the zoom on my camera..Unbelievable way to start a weekend of Eagle spotting adventures....
