HORSES

“Horses make a landscape look beautiful”
When you are able to mount an animal and let it lead you to where you want to go....no doubt in my mind, that this is our most amazing creature...I live for the thrill of the ride!

MCKINLEY WOODS

"Of all our natural resources water has become most precious."" This is going into McKinley Woods....
one of my favorite places on earth!

JOLIET IRON WORKS SITE

"...in the past man had to protect himself from nature where as today it is nature that must be protected from man."The Joliet Iron Works Historical Site.....This is where Joliet began it's growth...and gave many people a place to live, work and play!

MESSENGER MARSH PRESERVE

"The beauty of nature includes all that is called beautiful, as it's flower; and all that is not called beautiful, as it's stalks, and roots."Hiking the Messenger Marsh Preserve, on a cold fall day with my Mom. Days like this will be hard to forget.

THEODORE MARSH PRESERVE

"The Best and the most Beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with your heart."

On the trail in Theodore Marsh, there was just about every kind of wild flower you could imagine.

LAKE RENWICK PRESERVE

"A lake is the preserve landscapes most beautiful and expressive feature. It is the earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measured the depths of it's own nature."
This is just one of many lakes in this preserve..lots of birds out there too.

GOODENOW GROVE NATURE PRESERVE

"A dead tree may be as arresting as filled with personality, in death as it is in life. And later as part of other green growing things it rises again." Here we go tromping through nature looking for the fungi..

BRAIDWOOD DUNES AND SAVANNA NATURE PRESERVE

"The earth laughs in flowers."
Where the mushrooms are pink, the frogs are green, the flowers are yellow...while the skies stay blue.

RED TAIL HAWK IN FLIGHT

“The hawk with talent hides its talons"
"Mate or nest mate?" Only my Dad would ask me a question like that...Not quite sure what he is. But,I do know when I see that White Hawk, this one is always close by...I'm going with mate. Not brother and sister!

WINTERS BLANKET

“The key to success is often the ability to adapt”
I like this shot because, it looks like he's checking himself out. As the White Tailed Deer looks for food, the winds shift and the snow becomes horizontal. The weather made him such a beautiful white snow covered blanket.

SWAN RIVER

“Get my Swan costume ready.”
The Swans are floating down the river, what a beautiful sight to see. This one was showing off all his cool tricks, while he was honking at me..

WHITE TAILS

“There's no rest for the wicked”

These White Tailed Deers let me walk right up to them, chilling in the woods. Truly wonderful to see a Deer in the first place. But, to be able to snap this shot without disturbing them was amazing. There were about ten of them that day, just hanging out in the snow bed.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER!

“Don't refuse to go on an occasional wild goose chase -- that's what wild geese are for.”

There's always something alive and free right outside my door. This picture is awesome even without the Hawk hunting in the background! The half frozen pond was over flowing with these beautiful geese that day!

BIRD FEEDING

"Birds of a feather will gather together."
Feeding the birds is a messy job. But, someone wants to do it...I wait to see what flies in for a bite to eat. Then the bird who stays for a minute in the tree, gets captured!

LOVERS LEAP

“Look before you leap”
Off to the Rock, to see more Eagles!!!At least one more..oh well, the Furry Friends Show at the Lodge was what the trip was all about. The Eagle bird was a bonus. The Starved Rock area is one of my favorite places in the world to get lost in nature! Here is a nice view of Lovers leap and the Visitor Center.

HELLO, EAGLE BIRD!

“It's a great event to get outside and enjoy nature. I find it very exciting no matter how many times I see bald eagles.”

"There's an Eagle", I said to my Daughter. as I hit the brakes...Shot this massive bird from the car. My Daughter didn't believe me until she saw it through the zoom on my camera..Unbelievable way to start a weekend of Eagle spotting adventures....

FROZEN FOG

"The whole world, as we experience it visually,
comes to us through the mystic realm of color."
Call this Frozen Fog whatever you want..I call it a beautiful way to brighten up a gloomy day. It made any glimpse of color just pop out at you!!! We only seen one Eagle that day, but the awesome views of Nature were numerous!!

RED SHOULDER HAWK

"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it."

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! This is a red shoulder hawk. Hawks are my favorite bird to watch. On our Eagle spotting adventure this was the first big bird we saw that weekend...This Red Shoulder was hunting in someone backyard. I'll say it again,"Beautiful sight to see!"

SOMETHING ABOUT THE SUNRISE!

“With each sunrise, we start anew”
From sun up to sun down, there's always something I find interesting to capture. It may be in your own back yard..or, you just may have to look for it. But, it's there for all of us to enjoy! Take in a sunrise.

CAN TAKE YOU THERE!

Just what I have been looking for...Join me as I spot something interesting and share it!
